Google Adds Enhanced Listings To Local Business Center

Google is launching enhanced listings shortly that can help you stand out in local listings - for $25/mo. You can pick from different enhancements including photos, videos, website, coupons, menus, reservations, and directions.

Interesting move... What do you think?

So far it's only live in San Jose, CA and Houston, TX

Finally, a directory listing WORTH paying for. Nobody said that YellowPages had the wrong model, they just had the wrong medium. I can see a lot of companies using enhanced business listings on Google as they continue to fight their way to the top of mind for consumers.

The local business directories like DEX, YellowPages, etc have clearly not looked at the future with regards to location based services off of their existing clients. Once Twitter rolled out the location data being sent out via the Twitter API, these organizations should have opened a API for developers to tap into. Soon they will have many opportunities that others, like Google are going to provide. It depends on the distribution. To that point, I think that in the next month there might be a really good solution for them.

Are you sure this is legit? @signproames has this already (and it's free) Google Sign Pro Ames

Scott, try searching for just "signs ames" and you'll notice Sign Pro is #2. Maybe the $25/mo moves you up to #1.

Enhanced listings don't increase your position directly. They simply add more features and a callout to your listing

They are free right now until the end of February - if you have access in your account. At this time I'm not sure it's worth $25/mo though. Yes - you can do some of the stuff for free - however these enhanced listings do make you stand out more.

Just till the end of the month? Ouch, that sucks! We were #1 in that search for more than a year.. Our competitor finally got his listing updated?! Plus, he has 'signs' in his name, instead of 'sign' which helps with that specific search.
