The AP And The "Siteless" Web

"TechCrunch reports that the Associated Press is using their Twitter account to push their followers to their Facebook page. On that hub they syndicate many stories blog posts and dispatches as full text. Unlike Danny Sullivan (here and here), I think this is a downright brilliant and visionary move. What's more it's a natural for a wire service like AP."

I agree this is a great move for a wire service because essentially they are an aggregator. Their content outposts IS their web strategy.

However if your business thinks that just having a Facebook page is a web strategy - you are in for some disappointment.

What do you think about a move to the "siteless" web. Let us know in the comments!

"Oh yea - I have a website - it's on Facebook"

Google Buzz For Local Marketing

I think this makes Buzz a valuable addition to Google’s toolbox as it continues to push aggressively into the local mobile advertising space. Empowering local businesses to self-publish to people around them, with massive Google Mobile distribution, can be a powerful value proposition, especially if Google ties it to recommendations and its Local Business Center. But in the end, will enough people and businesses publish on it, especially given the other social options out there? We’ll wait and see…

Great insight here on how Google Buzz is going to charge the local internet marketing space. The implications are huge and the need for an optimized local presence have now become mandatory.
